This week’s nutrition advice is based around breakfast. As mentioned previously, I think, along with many others, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Breakfast is significant in achieving overall body fat reduction as well as influencing the way you perform throughout the day in a positive way. It is vital that each day you get off to the best possible start … a healthy breakfast is a way of doing this. Think, in sport how many people get the results they want when they start a race slowly?
When you are asleep the body is starved/fasted for anywhere between 6-12 hours … breakfast breaks this fast, hence the name breakfast! Glucose levels are low when you wake up so breakfast can help to restore these levels and ensure you leave the house to go to work/daily activities feeling positive mentally and physically.
A traditional breakfast of eggs is a good way of getting that bit of essential protein into your breakfast. Although some people find this a little controversial lean protein and some raw nuts make for a good breakfast with a low GI piece of fruit, especially if you want to reduce body fat. I have done the research and this really works at steadying and controlling your blood sugar and prevents spiking!
Do you find your concentration levels dipping throughout the day? If the answer is yes, ask yourself are you making time to ensure that you get a good breakfast to kick start your day.
Start your day as you mean to go on!
