The Best and Worst Vegetables

In Dietby Jeremy Katz

I am often asked why I recommend fruit and vegetables as obvious as it is to me some people seem a little phased by the whole debate. The most important aspect is cost organic fruit and veg costs more! Hence the debate begins. With the want of not getting too spiritual we need to try to eat our food just as God intended not with the following used in its growth and manufacture:

  • Pesticides
  • Synthetic Fertilizers
  • Genetically modified organism
  • Ionizing Radiation

There are countless health issues with regard to the residue of these chemicals within your food and I have to be a little careful what I say. For there is a bigger stronger much more powerful source at work to counter the research and it’s findings.

So what I have listed below is a test conducted by the ’Environmental Working Group’ . Listed below are the fruits and vegetables that are most important to buy or grow organically for they have the highest pesticide loading:

  • Peaches
  • Apples
  • Sweet bell peppers
  • Celery
  • Nectarines
  • Strawberries
  • Cherries
  • Lettuce
  • Grapes
  • Pears
  • Spinach
  • Potatoes

In contrast, these fruits and vegetables have the lowest pesticide load making them the safest of conventionally grown fruit and vegetables you can eat:

  • Broccoli
  • Eggplant
  • Cabbage
  • Banana
  • Kiwi
  • Asparagus
  • Sweet peas (frozen)
  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Sweet corn
  • Avocado
  • Onion

So as a lot of people who have discussed with me the mere expenses argument between non-organic and organic fruit and vegetables I hope this gives a much more informed choice.

Simply we are what we eat, every single rejuvenating cell in our body is directly affected by what we eat and drink! Choose wisely but don’t beat yourself up with having to buy everything organic all of the time.
